Today is Memorial Day... Display your flag proudly. There is no other place I would want to live.
I am thankful for my father, uncles and mostly recently my nephews Matthew Craig Asplin, USN and Bradley Charles Asplin, USMC who have served their country.
Did you know:
- The first flag was adopted on June 14, 1777 with the original 13 stars for the the 13 colonies.
- The flag has 13 horizontal stripes, alternating red and white, representing the 13 colonies forever.
- In the canton or union, the 50 states are represented by 5 pointed stars on a blue field.
- The current flag was first flown on July 4, 1960.
- When a flag needs to be replaced there are proper methods to do so.
- The flag should folded and stored properly when not in use.
The Pledge of Allegiance is what we have all been taught as children to salute the flag.
The Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States.
Enjoy your holiday weekend. Thank a vet or serviceman or servicewoman for their service.
God Bless us All!
