Karen Workman & The Oakland Press Phragmite Articles

Phragmite plant

Karen Workman, Community Engagement Editor of The Oakland Press, has written two articles about Phragmites. I encourage you to read her articles. Workman has done an outstanding job of informing the reader about the plant and has listed many resources to contact if you are interested in helping to rid the State of Michigan from Phragmites. It can be done if we all work together.

  1. I looked up your blog because of the article. Thank you for the photo here. It's much more useful than the O. Press photo. Now I recognize the plant. I don't live in a wetlands area, so I don't have it, but will send the information to a friend with a house on a pond. I've seen Phragmites and thought they were decorative plants. It's worth knowing before accidentally spreading it.

Weeds are anything that grows where you don't want it. I love wildflowers, so I'll look forward to checking your older posts.
